Scene Around Town: Les Dames d'Escoffier and Dallas Historical Society

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s September 5 issue, I’m featuring scenes from Les Dames d'Escoffier whose Dallas Chapter recently gathered to induct new members into the organization and celebrate the Dallas Chapter's 40th anniversary. These "Dallas Dames" are members of a philanthropic organization of women leaders in the food, beverage and hospitality industries. Also highlighted were images from the Dallas Historical Society honored Juneteenth with the unveiling of an exciting new exhibit which includes the only known original printed General Order No. 3 handbill, the historic order proclaiming that all enslaved people in Texas were now free. This free exhibit is on display at the Hall of State at Fair Park through October 19.
