Scene Around Town: Dec My Room and Dallas Historical Society

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s June 6 issue, I’m featuring scenes from Room to Grow Luncheon where event chairs, Ashley O’Malley and Heather Winn, welcomed nearly 300 attendees to the 7th Annual Room to Grow Luncheon and Fashion Presentation to the South Court at Northpark Center. More than $150,000 was raised benefiting Dec My Room, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating transformative, healing places for children and young adults in extended hospital stays. Also highlighted were images from The Dallas Historical Society who celebrated the launch of their newest membership group, The Director’s Inner Circle, at the home of Greg Nieberding and Eddie Ortega. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to the preservation of Dallas and Texas history by offering education programming, lectures, historic city tours, museum exhibitions, etc.
