Scene Around Town: Frontiers of Flight Museum and DIFFA Dallas

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s May 30 issue, I’m featuring scenes from the Frontiers of Flight Museum who recently debuted a newly reimagined retail store featuring interactive STEM kits, aviation-themed books, bold art prints, and clever, design-forward toys. The shop also features handcrafted goods from local Dallas makers designed to foster interest in aviation and space. The store is open to the public, with no ticket required to shop. Also highlighted in this issue are images from the surreal world of House of DIFFA: Dreamstate. Over 1100 guests attended the annual black-tie gala fused high style with high impact, offering a night of runway spectacle, immersive storytelling, and record-breaking fundraising in support of the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Have an event you’d like to submit for editorial consideration? Here’s what you need to email me:

  • Send a minimum of 4 images for consideration. No more than 4 people in each shot.

  • No repeats (meaning the same person can’t be in multiple shots)

  • Guests need to be posed and smiling into the camera. No candids.

  • You must ID the people in each photo (left to right)

  • Tell me the name of the event and provide a brief description of the event (no more than 75 words)

  • Please send one event submission per email with the name of the event in the Subject line
