Scene Around Town: FGI Dallas and Association of Substance Abuse Programs

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s January 7 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from FGI Dallas’ recent Night of Stars Gala.

Over 250 fashionable guests packed the Thompson Hotel ballroom in Downtown Dallas for the Fashion Group International of Dallas (FGI Dallas) annual Night of Stars gala themed "Iconic Glam". Naeem Khan was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in Fashion. Jonathan Adler was awarded the Career Achievement Award in Design, Gray Malin was awarded the Career Achievement Award in Photography and Dee Lincoln was awarded the Career Achievement Award in Business. Gala chairs Ken Weber of Martini Consignment and Richard Rivas of TONI&GUY greeted supporters including Sam Saladino, Steve Kemball, Elizabeth Savetsky, Lele Sadoughi, Ese Azenabor, Rhonda Sargent Chambers, and Danielle Bell. James Aguiar served as the Master of Ceremonies for the star-studded annual event. The evening included a cocktail reception, fashion show featuring the Naeem Khan Spring/Summer 2022 collection produced by Jan Strimple, and an after party at Kessaku. Fashion Group International, Inc. provides a high-profile forum to promote the fashion business by hosting events that educate and facilitate the exchange of ideas by giving back to the community. Over $30,000 was raised this evening for student scholarships.

Also featured is the Association of Substance Abuse Programs (ASAP) who recently presented Dallas philanthropist, Robin Bagwell, with the 2021 Lone Star Award to honor and celebrate her outstanding leadership and distinctive contributions to prevention, treatment, and recovery from substance use disorders. The presentation took place at ASAP’s Lone Star Award Luncheon held at the Austin Southpark Hotel. Lone Star award nominations are received annually from the Association’s statewide membership and recipients are selected in four potential categories by the ASAP Board of Directors. Eric Niedermayer, CEO, Recovery Resource Council nominated Bagwell in the Individual category for her outstanding contributions to the Dallas-Fort Worth community.
