Scene Around Town: Dallas Symphony Orchestra League and Arboretum's Women's Council

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s January 21 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from The Women's Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden who formally presented a check in the amount of $280,000 to Mary Brinegar, president and CEO, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society, in fulfillment of their obligation to complete the funding of the $1.6 million endowment trust to support the ongoing maintenance of Phase II of A Woman's Garden, which was met 4 years ahead of schedule last August. Also featured were scenes from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s 8th Annual Fashion Notes Design Award and Style Show held at Fairmont Dallas on October 21. Co-chairs were Kameron Westcott and Samantha Wortley with Scott Murray serving as emcee. The Fashion Notes Designer Award was presented to Nardos Imam of Nardos Design followed by a runway presentation of a dozen of Nardos exquisite gowns. Lastly, renowned pianist Garrick Ohlsson was the guest artist for Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s A Noteworthy Night on Wednesday, October 13 in the library of Kathy and Harlan Crow. Ohlsson was in Dallas to perform Beethoven’s Emperor with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. The event was limited to 75 guests for an intimate evening starting with wine and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a brief performance by Ohlsson.
