Scene Around Town, Katy Trail Weekly (April 23, 2021)

As the Katy Trail Weekly’s Society Editor I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In the April 23-30 issue, I was pleased to spotlight Attorneys Serving the Community (ASC) who recently hosted “ASC Goes Couture” – a fashion show at Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas on March 4. Funds raised from this event will go toward members of the purchase of diapers and essential baby items for homeless and at-risk children across North Texas. Also featured this week was a Corporate Dinner hosted by the Dallas Arboretum on March 23. Guests enjoyed cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres. Trams gave tours throughout the garden to see the Japanese cherry trees and the 500,000 spring flowers—tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and more—that were in full bloom in every color palette. Dallas Arboretum Board Member Robin Carreker gave a state of the garden update including a recent accolade of the garden being one of eight featured in The New York Times. Garrison Efird, Corporate Advisory committee member, thanked the 2020 major donors, committee and staff. Then visitors enjoyed a lovely dinner outdoors in Jonsson Color Garden. Dallas Arboretum Chairman  Jim Ryan concluded the evening with final thanks to everyone, especially during a difficult year.
