Scene Around Town: Dallas CASA and artist Donald Robertson

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s March 1 issue, I was pleased to share highlights from CASAblanca, a casino party benefiting the children served by Dallas CASA. More than 400 Dallas-area young professionals packed The Hall on Dragon February 2 for a sold-out, red-carpet event featuring a live band, dancing and a silent auction, plus blackjack and craps tables and a roulette wheel. Guests dressed in tuxedos and glittering formal dresses enjoyed a signature cocktail, the Queen of Hearts featuring orange liqueur, cranberry juice and champagne, a fried rice station and cheesecake lollipops. They ended the night with Whataburger honey butter chicken biscuits.

Also highlighted were scenes from Lucy Wrubel’s residence which became a haven for 175 posh Dallasites and art enthusiasts. Guests were welcomed by the Stanley Korshak team at a branded van filled with the much-anticipated launch of artist Donald Robertson’s latest book titled Drawbertson. The ambiance was further elevated as guests were treated to lively cocktails and art-themed cookies baked by Amy Kerber, which created an atmosphere with artistic flair. In the words of Robertson, “It was Sofa King Great!”
