Scene Around Town: Tocqueville Society and Dallas Casa

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s August 22 issue, I’m featuring scenes from the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society’s annual luncheon held April 25th at the Rosewood Mansion. The event featured a special fireside chat with Stéphanie and Jean-Guillaume de Tocqueville and Sonal Shah, CEO of The Texas Tribune and celebrated philanthropy’s power to create lasting change and announced an inspiring commitment from Carol and Kevin March. The gift  supports the Society’s mission to strengthen North Texas through transformational giving, leadership and community engagement. Also featured were images from a party to celebrate the final days of Parade of Playhouses. Dallas CASA hosted The Closing Party on June 26 at NorthPark Center. It was a fun evening to recognize and thank all the sponsors, builders, architects, and friends who made our 30th anniversary event so special.

Have an event you’d like to submit for editorial consideration? Here’s what you need to email me:

  • Send a minimum of 4 images for consideration.

    • No more than 4 people in each shot.

    • No repeats (meaning the same person can’t be in multiple shots)

    • Guests need to be posed and smiling into the camera. No candids.

  • You must ID the people in each photo (left to right)

  • Tell me the name of the event and provide a brief description of the event (no more than 75 words)

  • Please send one event submission per email with the name of the event in the Subject line
