Scene Around Town: New Friends New Life, State Fair of Texas, and Farrah Fawcett Foundation
As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In the November 2026 issue, I featured scenes from the 2026 Stand for Her Luncheon where more than 1,150 community leaders, advocates and supporters came together to support New Friends New Life’s to raise critical support for women and girls who have experienced human trafficking and exploitation. Also featured are images from the State Fair of Texas’ Saddle Up event where the Big Tex Champion Club's annual boot-scootin' benefit, raised more than $320,000 for Texas students. Event co-chairs Robert Walne and Grant and Courtney Pruitt delivered a magnificent evening of high-spirited fun under the Texas stars at The Rustic Dallas. Lastly, the Farrah Fawcett Foundation hosted guests for an evening of margaritas and mariachi music at their annual Tex-Mex Fiesta. Actress Marcia Cross was honored and Country music duo, Big and Rich, gave a special performance. The evening raised funds for Stand Up To Cancer® and the American Cancer Society’s Hope.
