Scene Around Town: Vogel's corporate dodgeball tournament, SMU’s Meadows Museum Lenders Dinner, and Equest’s 45th Annual Blue Ribbon Gala

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In the October 2026 issue, I featured scenes from Dodge For A Cause, the high-energy corporate dodgeball tournament that saw 28 spirited teams competing for bragging rights in support of Vogel. The biggest win of the night came off the court, as the tournament raised $200,000 to support Vogel’s mission of helping children and families overcome homelessness and poverty. Up next were images from SMU’s Meadows Museum who recently hosted a Lenders Dinner celebrating the world premiere of "Spectacles of Power and Faith: Colonial South American Art" from the Thoma Foundation. Event designer Steve Kemble curated the evening, which honored museum dignitaries with a festive dinner underwritten by James and Kristin Hallam and Ben E. Keith Beverages. Lastly, scenes from Equest’s 45th Annual Blue Ribbon Gala were published in celebration of a milestone 45th Annual Blue Ribbon Gala. The event drew 600 guests for an evening of refined glamour and heartfelt purpose. The sold-out event advanced Equest’s mission to enhance lives through equine-assisted therapies and activities.
