Scene Around Town: Junior League Dallas, Hope Supply Co, and Stewpot Alliance

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s February 11 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from the Junior League of Dallas who recently hosted a special Centennial luncheon honoring former presidents and ball chairs in the newly redecorated Zodiac Room at Neiman Marcus Downtown. Centennial Co-chair Margo Goodwin shared plans for the 100-year celebration, which include the Centennial Milestones Luncheon featuring Martha Stewart set for April 21, 2022, and the Centennial Gala featuring a 1920’s Art Nouveau-inspired celebration with nods to JLD’s rich history throughout.on April 23, both at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

The sixth annual Supply Hope! was hosted a few months ago by Dallas-based Hope Supply Co., the largest nonprofit children’s diaper bank in Texas. Year round, the organization accepts donations on critically needed items for children including diapers, diaper wipes, baby formula and more. Hope provides these items to 75+ social service organizations in North Texas, including homeless shelters, transitional living centers, school districts and state agencies. 300 guests, including Hope’s board members, volunteers and friends, attended this event at the home board member, Rob Snyder. Throughout the night, guests mingled together as they enjoyed cocktails, wood fired pizza from 400 Gradi, a live auction and a live concert by Dallas-based pop artist, SHAB.

The Stewpot Alliance recently hosted their annual Fall Party at Saint Rocco’s New York Italian in Trinity Groves. 2022 Stewpot Alliance Luncheon and Art Sale co-chairs Carolyn Jefferson and Thella Bowens announced next year’s luncheon will be held February 17 and returns to the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Venise and Larry Stuart will serve as honorary chairs. Kevin Curry, founder of FitMenCook, an online community that inspires men and women to eat and stay fit with healthy recipes, will be the featured speaker. Chef Brian Luscher, culinary director of 33 Restaurant Group returns as chef chair along with a dozen of Dallas’ top chefs.
