Scene Around Town: United Way and Texas Women’s Foundation

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s February 16 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from United Way who recently kicked off a new ‘Democracy in America’ series featuring Mike Rawlings, former mayor of Dallas, and Margaret Spellings, president and CEO of the Washington-based Bipartisan Policy Center to encourage a healthy democracy. Also highlighted were scene from The Village Giving Circle at Texas Women’s Foundation who recently awarded $165,000 in grants to 12 nonprofit organizations whose missions support the African American community in North Texas.
